MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Transaction processor Metavante Corporation, a subsidiary of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (NYSE: MI), says it has certified Triple DES processing on NCR, Diebold, and Fujitsu brand ATMs in advance of an April 1, 2003, MasterCard mandate.
Metavante has implemented Triple DES-capable ATMs for Peoples National Bank, with locations throughout southern Illinois, according to a news release.
Metavante is also working with several other financial institutions, including California Bank & Trust, headquartered in San Diego; Citizens Bank, Flint, Mich.; and Carrollton Bank, Baltimore.
According to the release, Metavante has certified with the MasterCard debit switch to support Triple DES encryption for MasterCard, Cirrus and Maestro traffic. Metavante anticipates being in production with the MasterCard debit switch on March 26.
According to the release, Metavante provides EFT and card services to approximately 1,600 financial institutions and transportation agencies in the United States.
