WASHINGTON, D.C. -- What do the new $20 bill, check imaging, national security, the unbanked population and deposit fraud have in common?
All are on the agenda at the 2003 ATM Channel Planning Seminar, sponsored by NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), in Washington, D.C. on June 16-17.
A group of the nation's leading bankers will convene to discuss the effect of these diverse yet related topics on the ATM industry, according to a news release.
Legislators, industry analysts and financial industry insiders will be among the presenters at the event, which provides an opportunity for bankers to review the evolving regulatory, business and consumer environment that will shape the direction of the ATM channel in the next five years.
"We are pleased to offer such a high-quality, educational and networking event in a nonsales-oriented environment," said Andrew Orent, vice president of NCR's Financial Solutions Division, Americas region, in the release. "NCR has simply provided the mechanism for financial institutions to hear directly from those often involved in regulating the industry. One of the expected highlights will be a presentation by Tom Ferguson, director of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, who will discuss possible changes resulting from the new $20 note.
Also, the Federal Reserve Board will update the audience on the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act, which just passed a voice vote by the House Financial Services subcommittee and is expected to come to a vote by the full House of Representatives as early as mid-June.
Among other presenters are the United States Secret Service, the Department of Justice, Celent Communications, Thomson Media and the Consumer Bankers Association.
