DULLES, Va. -- Encore Networks, a developer of integrated IP+Legacy Virtual Private Network (VPN) security solutions, has added Bisync 3270/3275 support to its entire line of IP+Legacy VPN and data access products.
This provides protocol conversion for legacy protocols over IP packet networks for ATMs and retail point-of-sale terminals.
According to the release, most ATMs are based on legacy technologies like bisync, poll-select (TC500) and SDLC that operate over analog leased line circuits. However, with Encore's IP+Legacy VPN solutions and ELIOS support of bisync protocol conversion to IP, ATMs appear to the transaction host as IP end-points.
This gives deployers a cost effective, end-to-end IP migration strategy without the need for a major upgrade of their ATMs and, at the same time, allows for interoperability with IP-based front-end processors.
Abir Hnidi, chief technology officer of Encore Networks, said in the release that the support of bisync to IP conversion allows deployers to take advantage of faster packet-based technologies while providing a clear migration path to secure VPN applications over IP.
