SHOREVIEW, Minn. - Scottsdale, Ariz.-based eFunds Corp. has laid off about 180 employees.

According to an Associated Press report, the layoffs will affect operations at its Shoreview and Woodbury locations in Minnesota and in Glendale, Wis., New Berlin, Wis., and Phoenix.

Spokeswoman Drea Garrison said that the layoffs, which were effective earlier this month, were part of a larger streamlining effort that began several months ago. More layoffs are likely, she said.

The company currently employs about 4,500 people worldwide, Garrison said.
