CALGARY, Alberta - Police have arrested nine men they say were stealing ATM/debit card information and PINs from customers using drive-through ATMs.
The crew, from Ontario, Quebec and Illinois, set up hidden cameras to capture PINs as they were entered, and used skimming devices to get debit card information, police say.
The men, who are in their 20s and 30s, have been charged with 50 offenses, including possessing instruments for forging credit cards, unlawfully possessing forged credit cards and interfering with property over $5,000.
The machines were at various banks throughout the city, according to a CBC report.
Police say the nine had been in the city for a week and already had data from hundreds of potential victims. Computers containing the information, manufactured counterfeit debit cards, more than 1,000 blank debit cards and other equipment were seized.
