MADRID - Banco Sabadell says it will install NCR Corporation's (NYSE:NCR) Fluiditi solution to protect cash against theft in some of its remote ATMs.
The Fluiditi product will stain notes in the event of an attack, making the cash unusable. (See related story ATM security to dye for)"The demand for ATMs in convenient locations is growing. What was once a trend in the United States is quickly expanding throughout Europe," said Christophe Primault, Fluiditi's managing director, in a news release. "NCR's innovative Fluiditi technology will help grow the convenience ATM market. By deploying this technology, our clients are sending a clear message to criminals - 'Don't bother, there is nothing worth stealing.'
Miguel Montes, Banco Sabadell's general director of electronic business and technology, said, "In order to locate convenience ATMs away from bank branches, safety needs to be addressed. Attacks on these ATMs could damage a market that we believe has great potential. That is why Banco Sabadell believes Fluiditi technology will be the most effective way to develop this ATM network."
