SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. - Shipments of ATMs by NexTran increased by almost 500 percent in 2002, according to a recently released industry report.
The EFT Data Book, published by Thomson Media, credits NexTran with 2,947 ATM shipments in 2002, a 489.4 percent increase over the company's 2001 shipments. This is the largest increase of any of the 10 major ATM manufacturers surveyed for the report.
NexTran earned sixth place among manufacturers in the number of ATM shipments within the United States. (See related story U.S. ATM shipments increase -- a little -- in 2002)
According to a news release, the company credited its distribution system and its technology for the dramatic growth.
"In 2001 and early 2002 we built a distribution system around a core group of Master Distributors," said NexTran Chief Operating Officer Tony Park in the release. "We're now seeing the rewards of that strategy as our key partners are moving NexTran products into all regions of the country."
Park also credited the company's technology for its ability to outpace such established competitors as Diebold and NCR in the rate of shipment growth from 2001 to 2002.
"Our ATMs can be programmed for additional services like prepaid tickets or phone cards and still provide high-volume dispensing and great security in a small footprint," Park said.
A subsidiary of Chungho ComNet Co., Ltd., based in Seoul, South Korea, NexTran provides ATM hardware, software, installation, training, maintenance and monitoring, processing and customer service.
