SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Omron Transaction Systems, Inc. introduced its EX-BH2 and US-ABIO banknote recyclers at the BAI 2003 Retail Delivery Conference & Expo in New Orleans, Nov. 19-20.
According to a news release, the recyclers are the company's first to be deployed in North America.
"Our expertise in banknote handling, along with success of 66,000 recycler products that have been delivered in the Asian Pacific Region including Japan, will help system integrators and end users," Takeki Nemoto, president and CEO of Omron Transactions Systems, Inc., said in the release.
Helping operators reduce the manual loading and unloading of banknotes, Omron's recyclers accept banknote deposits and then dispense the same banknotes back to customers or operators, significantly decreasing the time cashiers and tellers spend handling banknotes.
The EX-BH2 is an electromechanical module ready for integration into an ATM or a financial services kiosk, and is an evolution of the EX-BH Recycler, according to the release. While the EX-BH2 maintains the same physical dimensions and communications interface as its predecessor, numerous mechanical and electronic design improvements have been made, resulting in significantly increased reliability. Performance strengths such as speed (seven notes per second), capacity (up to 100 bulk notes input capacity and 10,600 notes total storage capacity) and Omron's original banknote identification technology have all been preserved.
Omron will sell this module to system integrators, kiosk manufacturers and large end users with integration capabilities.
The US-ABIO Recycler is a true teller-assist solution installed, ideally, at banks, credit unions and the back-offices of retail stores. Typically shared between two tellers or operators, the US-ABIO's banknotes are deposited and dispensed from the same easily accessible hopper with a 100-note capacity.
Both the EX-BH2 and the US-ABIO products have WOSA-compliant drivers available for easy integration into existing networks, ATMs or kiosks.
