EDINBURGH, UK - Royal Bank of Scotland is offering six "golden tickets" worth £10,000 (about $17,000 U.S.) to consumers who use its ATMs.
According to a report in The Scotsman, the contest will run between Nov. 21 and Dec. 7 and is open to customers from all banks.
Benny Higgins, the Royal Bank's chief executive, said the contest was a way of rewarding the millions who used the ATMs.
"The Royal Bank has one of the most comprehensive ATM networks in Britain, with machines located as far north as the Shetland Isles and as far south as Cornwall." he said. "The give-away is a way of recognizing those who use our machines."
Although virtually every ATM user has access to Royal Bank machines, according to the Scotsman report, the odds still favor Royal Bank customers, who conduct more than half of the banks' ATM transactions.
One-hundred million people visited Royal Bank ATMs in 2002, withdrawing a total of £5.7 billion (about $9.7 billion U.S.)
