CAPE TOWN, South Africa-ATMIA Europe announced the appointment of two security advisers, who will assist the chapter with its intensive ATM security work in the United Kingdom and Europe.
According to a news release, effective immediately, Alan Townsend will serve as ATMIA's Security Adviser for the United Kingdom, and Lachlan Gunn is the group's European Security Adviser.
Neither, however, is employed by ATMIA.
Townsend is crime prevention coordinator, Flying Squad, with the Metropolitan Police Service and chairman of Banknote Watch Trust. Additionally, he is founder and chairman of the ATM Security Working Group.
He recently received an MPS commendation award and an ATMIA Global Award for Best Contribution to Promoting the Interests and Growth of the ATM Industry.
Gunn is managing director of BenAlpin Ltd., an international security consultancy with a special focus on ATM security. Since its formation in 2000, the company has performed assignments in Belgium, Croatia, Spain and the UK.
His core experience is the provision of support services in the business-to-business environment, primarily to banks and financial institutions. Experienced in risk management, mainly related to the transportation, storage and processing of cash, he has run commercial security companies in Hong Kong, India, Taiwan and Thailand.
