NORTH CANTON, Ohio - According to Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD), German testing organization T-Systems GEI GmbH has evaluated its new EPP4.0 encrypted PIN pad (EPP) for ATMs and found it conforms to specifications issued by ZKA, the regulatory body responsible for all aspects of card payments in Germany.
ZKA is widely acknowledged for setting the most stringent PIN pad testing standards in the world, according to a news release. ZKA specifications and standards address many of the security requirements of ATM networks.
Diebold is one of only a few manufacturers to have its product tested by T-Systems Laboratories, which has also been named by Visa as one of its approved facilities for the testing of PIN entry devices (PEDs).
"The certification of Diebold's EPP4.0 clearly demonstrates our continuous commitment to deliver secure ATMs to the market," said Danny O'Brien, Diebold's senior vice president of Global Product Management and Engineering, in the release.
EPP4.0s are used on all of Diebold's new Opteva family of ATMs, as well as its earlier ix Series machines and 9x series machines.
