ONTARIO, Calif. - The Co-Op Network's transaction volume reached 826 million in 2003, a 29 percent increase from the previous benchmark set in 2002.
According to a news release, it marks the 11th consecutive year Co-Op Network has posted a new standard for transaction volume.
In December 2003, Co-Op Network established a new monthly volume record when it processed more than 77 million transactions.
Robert Rose, CO-Op Network's chief executive, credited the increase to the network's growth, in the South and Midwest.
"Over a three-year timeframe, our transaction volume has jumped by more than 130 percent," he said. "This proves that our efforts to expand Co-Op Network's nationwide ATM presence are dramatically increasing our value to member credit unions."
The network added nearly 400 credit union clients, 2,200 ATMs and 6.5 million cardholders in 2003, according to the release.
At least one other EFT network, Pulse, experienced growth in transaction volume and membership in 2003. (See related story Pulse ATM transactions up nearly 17 percent in '03)
