MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - NCR Corporation's (NYSE: NCR) Encrypting PIN Pad (EPP) for ABMs (Automated Banking Machines, the Canadian term for ATMs) has received certification under the Interac Association Device Certification Program.
Independent testing of NCR's EPP was conducted by EWA-Canada, an accredited Interac Association Device Certification Agent.
"Securing financial transactions with technologies like NCR's EPP is important because Canadians continue to lead the world in the use of ABMs. Consumers place a lot of trust in the ABM. As a result, it is essential that the integrity of this self-service channel not be jeopardized," said Paul Zatychec, director of EWA-Canada's Certification Lab, in a news release.
NCR's complete ABM security offering combines a keyboard and encryption module that supports Triple DES. In September 2002, NCR launched its EPP module in Canada with the NCR APTRA software. NCR's EPP module was then certified to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9564-1) standard.
