NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Diebold, Incorporated's (NYSE:DBD) EPP4 encrypting PIN pad (EPP) for ATMs has received certification under Canada's Interac Association's Device Certification Program.
According to a news release, this certification was performed by CGI Information Technology, Security Evaluation and Test Facility of Ottawa, one of Interac Association's Accredited Device Certification Agents.
Interac certification of PIN pad encryption and mechanical security is a requirement of Interac for deployment of ATMs within Canadian networks.
EPPs are secure devices that protect a consumer's PIN once it is entered at an ATM. EPPs are not new but have received more attention recently due to increased consumer awareness of ABM security.
EPP4s are included with all of Diebold's new Opteva family of ATMs, as well as being upgradeable to its earlier i Series and ix Series machines.
