ATLANTA - ACG ATM-Remarketers, a provider of new and refurbished ATMs, kiosks and parts, is offering an alternative field service technician manual for NCR Corporation's 5600 and Personas ATM families.
According to a news release, the single manual is one-tenth the size of NCR's 10-12 volume series and saves users $200-300 per book.
"As refurbishers of ATMs, we understand what it is like to be in the field, burdened with sorting through a dozen books. NCR's books were instructive but impractical, forcing technicians to haul heavy loads and lose valuable work time flipping through tedious pages of information," said Woody Alderman, president of ACG. "In response to the field service technicians' needs, we now have a tool that contains all essential ATM information in one textbook."
According to the release, the ACG manual is a condensed version of NCR's books that eliminates redundant language and incorporates photographs of ATM components as opposed to line drawings. Its reduced size makes transporting it from one location to the next easier on service technicians and operators.
"The information contained in NCR's multiple books was relevant, but not convenient or user friendly," Alderman said. "We saw an opportunity to turn the series into a single book with detailed photos and simple instructions to make the technician's job easier. We are proud of the finalized product and look forward to sharing it with others in the industry."
ACG introduced the field service manual in conjunction with its latest service training class, a technical training and self-maintenance program offered to ATM operators and technicians. Service technicians from BANC:source, Inc., Siebold Security and Marine Federal Credit Union recently used the new service training manual to guide them through a week of classroom and hands-on training with ACG's technicians.
"It is pretty hard to manage and flip through 10 books when trying to fix one area of an ATM. ACG has provided an easy access book that allows us to quickly reference what we need to get the job done. The manual has pictures of the actual hardware we are working with so we know exactly what we are looking for and can move right to it," said John Sackett, parts and rework technician for BANC:source, Inc.
The field service manual is available separately or with ACG's NCR technical training program. Discounts for the manuals are given on quantity purchases and with training programs, according to the release.
