NEW ORLEANS - Columbus Data Services has certified Triton's option for CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) communication, a form of cellular communication for ATMs.
"While we have been providing a CDMA solution for any type of ATM with our own in-house CDMA solution since early last summer, we are excited to be able to support Triton's CDMA option," said John Willmon, vice president of business development at CDS. "Our clients can now get their Tritons with the CDMA option installed at the factory, which will save them both time and installation costs associated with retrofitting ATMs in the field."
CDMA is replacing CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data), another form of cellular communications which Willmon helped pioneer in 1999.
CDMA has much greater nationwide availability than did CDPD. "We had metropolitan areas in the South (Southern Bell territory) for instance, where there was no local support of CDPD," Willmon said. "With CDMA, ISOs should have access in most any metropolitan area in the U.S."
