Business Journal of Phoenix: Hypercom Corp. is offering a new device that company officials said will speed up the way consumers pay for goods and services.

Phoenix-based Hypercom said the Hypercom IN-tact 1201, a compact IP gateway device, converts virtually any manufacturer's dial-up ATM or dial card payment terminal into a faster, IP-enabled device.

The new device is specifically designed for small and multi-lane retailers who want the faster transaction speeds and lower communications costs inherent in Internet connectivity.
