CAPE TOWN, South Africa and BROOKINGS, S.D. - The ATM Industry Association released a consolidated set of five new global awards, according to a news release.
For 2005, ATMIA will grant a Lifetime Achievement Award; a Most Influential Member Award; an individual and an organizational Best Contribution to the Industry award; three Best ATM Technology Awards; and a Best Contribution to ATM Crime Fighting award. The awards are international.
Here's a breakdown of the award categories:
Lifetime Achievement - The award will go to an individual who has served in the ATM industry for at least 10 years. The recipient will be someone who is widely recognized by his or her peers as an exceptional and mature leader in the industry, someone who exerts a positive attitude and who has many industry achievements and/or successes.
Achievements or successes include changing and improving the industry or managing an ATM-related business or operation that is successful and serves as a model of best practices and business ethics. The winner will be selected by ATMIA's executive board.
Most Influential Member - The award is only open to ATMIA members. The winner will be selected by the association's more than 600 members in 40 countries.
Best Contribution to the Industry - The award will be voted on by ATMIA members and is open to both members and non-members. Two awards will be granted, one individual and one organizational.
"Sometimes, people and their companies make powerful yet less tangible contributions to the overall maturity of the industry and to the mood of confidence in the ATM," said Mike Lee, ATMIA's CEO. This award goes to a person or company who has overcome that intangibility.
The award will be granted based on one or more of the following: long-term positive influence on the industry, excellence in technology or levels of service, leadership in applying best practices, and specific and measurable achievements that have produced tangible results.
Best ATM Technology - Three awards will be granted: one for hardware, one for software and one for ATM security. ATMIA has set up an Awards Committee that will appoint three independent judges who are technology experts from different regions of the world. Those judges will provide ATMIA members a list of candidates to choose from.
Best Contribution to ATM Crime Fighting - The award recipient will be chosen by the executive committee of ATMIA's Global ATM Security Alliance.
"Here the efforts made by an individual or company to enhance ATM security and protect the ATMs' trusted environment - making life harder for the ATM fraudsters and criminals - will be the deciding factor," said Lana Harmelink, ATMIA's international director of operations.
In addition to those global awards, ATMIA's advisory regional boards may grant recognition to outstanding achievements in their respective chapters.
