CHESSINGTON, SURREY, England - Comms XL, a transaction and data processing specialist, is the first software house to achieve global accreditation from MasterCard International Inc. for a generic chip and PIN system, according to a news release. MasterCard has approved Comms XL's product, SmartCCard Lite, for installation by merchants.
SmartCCard Lite is a "plug and play" chip and PIN solution that, because of its all-inclusive capabilities, can be implemented by merchants without third-party involvement. Authorization and payment file fulfillment to acquiring bank takes place through either the CCServer module on the merchant's network or over a secure link to Comms XL's SecureCXL payment service.
MasterCard will not require further accreditation testing when the system is installed.
"This endorsement of SmartCCard Lite reflects MasterCard's confidence in Comms XL's technology and people," said Denise Hall, managing director of Comms XL. "The knock-on effect for retailers migrating to chip and PIN solutions to cut card fraud, for which they are now liable, is that their implementation window has reduced dramatically."
