CHARLOTTE, N.C. � Trusted Security Solutions, a leader in ATM key management solutions, announced in an Aug. 1 news release that it has shipped 1 million Comvelopes for its ATM key management signature product, A98. The Comvelope process was introduced by Trusted Security in 1997.
"The fact that we have shipped over 1 million Comvelopes for use with our A98 is a resounding endorsement by ATM key management personnel of the value of the A98," said Trusted Security president Dennis Abraham. "The current installed A98 capacity is over 200,000 ATMs, and A98s are in use at most of the major processors, credit unions and FIs."
Comvelopes are tamper-evident PIN mailer-like documents that are used with A98 to establish a unique initial key in an ATM without changes to the ATM.
Unlike conventional manual key loading, for which components of a real key must be distributed, with Convelope there are no components distributed. Rather, two technicians actually generate their respective components by selecting a random untampered Comvelope, loading the random number found inside and using the integrated VRU to inform the A98 of which two Comvelopes were used. The Comvelopes are then destroyed in the field by shredding or other acceptable means.
The A98 Initial ATM key Establishment System uses the information in the Comvelope as well as additional customer supplied information to establish a unique key in an ATM.
The A98 solution simplifies tasks associated with key management, including log-keeping and compartmentalization of duties, and users can access all operation functions through a browser-based interface.
The A98 solution supports all key management types, from split-left-right and single length DES to Triple DES and both Certificate Based Protocol for remote keying of Diebold ATMs and NCR�s Signature Based Protocol for NCR ATMs.
Available host application attachments include Base24, Connex, CV Systems and Mosaic�s Postilion.
