CR2 names Kindle founder new chairman

DUBLIN, Ireland - CR2 announced in an Aug. 2 news release the appointment of Kieran Nagle as chairman. Nagle, founder and director of Kindle, a financial services software company, has more than 35 years international experience in the IT sector.

"Kieran's experience in Kindle will greatly help CR2 achieve its international growth objectives. Kieran was critical in the broad international growth of Kindle and we are extremely pleased to have his commitment to CR2 as Chairman," said Martin Dolan, CR2's chief executive.

Nagle began his career as a programmer with Irish Computer Bureau Services in 1967. He later joined U.S. multinational Litton Industries in Sydney, Australia, in 1972 before going to Honeywell in Melbourne, Australia, where he served in systems, sales and management positions in Dublin, Ireland, Montreal and Edmonton, Alberta.

He founded Kindle in 1980, which he sold to United Kingdom-based ACT in 1991. In 1995, ACT was sold to Misys and was renamed Kindle Banking Systems, with Nagle as chairman and CEO. As a separate company within Misys, Kindle's expansion continued under Nagle's influence, both organically and through acquisitions.

During his tenure with Kindle, Bankmaster was used by more than 200 banks in 82 countries. Nagle stepped down as Kindle's CEO in 2000, and remained as part-time chairman until the end of 2001.
