AUGSBURG, Germany - NCR Corp. is the first company in Germany to receive EMV Level 2 authorization for a Windows-based ATM software program from Germany's central credit authority, Zentraler Kreditausschuss, according to a news release.
ATMs using NCR's Aptra software platform can now perform EMV transactions. (The EMV standard was defined by the EMVCo LLC consortium, which includes Europay International, MasterCard International and Visa International.)
"Receiving ZKA EMV Level 2 authorization for our NCR APTRA software is a milestone in implementing chip-card processing," said Michael Marheineke, area vice president for Central Europe at NCR's Financial Solutions Division. "This makes transactions considerably more secure. With the certification of the first Windows-based software, banks can now combine the open concept and standard conformity of the software with the latest security technology."
