OMAHA, Neb. - Transaction Systems Architects Inc., ACI Worldwide Inc.'s parent company, announced fourth-quarter revenue of $79 million for the period ended Sept. 30, up 13 percent from last year. Net income for the quarter was $9.1 million, or 24 cents per share, an 8 percent drop from 4Q 2004.

According to a news release, operating expenses were $67.9 million compared to $57.4 million for the same period last year. Those expenses included approximately $3.8 million related to the S2 acquisition, $2.5 million in sales commissions and related selling expenses, approximately $1.2 million in special charges from the company's reorganization, and approximately $900,000 for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and other corporate initiatives.

Full-year revenue hit $313.2 million, up 7 percent from last year, and full-year net income hit $43.2 million.

Revenue from the Americas was $42.4 million, compared to $38.7 million for 4Q '04. U.S. revenue was $29.8 million, up slightly from $29.3 million a year ago, and international revenue was $12.6 million, up from $9.4 million.

Revenue from the Europe/Middle East/Africa region was $26.1 million, up from $22.2 million; and revenue from Asia-Pacific was $10.5 million, up from $8.8 million.

Highlights from the quarter included the addition of 12 customers and 24 new applications, 18 capacity upgrades, the closed acquisition of S2 Systems Inc., and the combining of business units.

"We had broad success across all geographies and several product lines in the fourth quarter," said Philip G. Heasley, TSA's chief executive. "We closed significant business in the fraud detection, payments engine and settlement arenas during the quarter."

Of TSA's 12 new customers, ACI got seven.
