SYDNEY - NCR Corp. announced the unveiling of new security solutions designed to help Australian banks and ATM deployers combat the growing trend in ATM card skimming and ATM ram raids.
According to a news release, the solutions include intelligent fraud detection technology, a fraudulent device inhibitor, intelligent cash protection and safes that are more resistant to physical attack. NCR's CEN L enclosures, which comply with the latest standards from the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), provide 33 percent more resistance to physical attacks and are between12 percent and 15 percent heavier than safes commonly used in Australian ATMs.
According to NCR, its IFD (intelligent fraud detection) solution is the first ATM security solution to detect fraudulent items made from a range of materials, including wood, plastic, glass and paper. If an attempt is made to tamper with the ATM, IFD sends an alert to the bank - even before a compromise has occurred.
NCR's FDI (fraudulent device inhibitor) is a countermeasure against the attachment of devices to the card reader. FDI also defends against card-trapping.
"NCR takes a broad, holistic view of security to protect the ATM at every possible point of compromise," said Ross Checkley, vice president of NCR's Financial Solutions Division, South Pacific.
