BROOKINGS, S.D. - The ATM Industry Association recognized Triton Systems' Bill Jackson at its seventh annual ATMIA Conference East for his role as a pioneer in the development of off-premise or convenience ATMs, which have swept through markets across the world and changed self-service banking forever. During a reception Feb. 16, ATMIA gave Jackson its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
Other ATMIA members were recognized for their contributions as well.
NCR Corp. respectively earned the Best ATM Technology Award in the hardware and security categories for its 'Deploy Anywhere' Personas 71 and Intelligent Fraud Detection system.
First National Bank (South Africa) took the Best ATM Technology Award in the software category for its use of an ATM as a sales and communication tool.
The Global ATM Security Alliance's ATM Crime Fighter of the Year 2005 Award went to Mike Urban, CardAlert Fraud Manager for Fair Isaac Corp. And the Best Contribution to the Industry 2005 Award went to Martin Lewis, APACS manager of policy and card services and chairman of the United Kingdom's ATM Crime Group.
The Most Influential Member 2005 Award went to Sandra Hartfield, president of Palm Desert National Bank's Electronic Banking division and chairwoman of ATMIA.
ATMIA uses a panel of experts, member voting and executive board voting. At least one of these awards criteria must be met to receive an award:
- Long-term positive influence on improving the industry
- Excellence in technology or levels of service
- Leader in applying best practice
- Specific and measurable achievements producing tangible results
"Sometimes, people and their companies make powerful yet less tangible contributions to the overall maturity of the industry and to the mood of confidence in the ATM," said ATMIA CEO Mike Lee.
