De La Rue's '04/'05 profit hits $114 million

HAMPSHIRE, England - De La Rue Plc., the world's largest commercial security printer and papermaker and a leading provider of cash-handling equipment and software solutions to banks and retailers worldwide, announced in a news release that it expects operating profits for fiscal year 2005/2006 to exceed last year. In FY 2004/2005, the company's profit hit £65.2 million (U.S. $113.76 million).

Trading since September 2005 has been strong, aided in part by productivity initiatives and the strength of the U.S. dollar. Volumes for the second half of fiscal year '06, which ends March 25, have been stronger than anticipated.
