BROOKINGS, S.D. - The ATM Industry Association announced in a news release the publishing of international best practices for ATM business efficiency.
The manual reflects ATMIA's Total ATM Lifecycle Operational Solution model, a brainchild of ATMIA European director Graham McKay.
Today's installed ATM base exceeds 1.5 million ATMs. Research suggests that each ATM costs between $7,500 and $25,000 annually to operate. Assuming, on average, that deployers spend about $15,000 a year to operate each of their ATMs, annual operating costs total $22.5 billion, McKay said.
"This document sets out to review the factors impacting lifecycle costs for the ATM. There are several areas in the lifecycle which may be addressed in order to improve business efficiency and cost saving."
Five areas are highlighted in the manual:
- Key cost and profit drivers
- Cash cycle and cash management
- Technical-service monitoring efficiencies
- ATM outsourcing business model
- ISO business model
