NORTH CANTON, Ohio - When planning its new Hopkinton, Mass., location, executives at The Milford National Bank & Trust Company wanted an ultra-modern branch that incorporated the latest self-service technology. Working with Diebold Inc., the bank eased teller workloads through an innovative branch design that includes Diebold's most up-to-date self-service and security products.
"Our goal with this project was to create a high-efficiency banking office with fewer staff but more technology to facilitate routine transactions," Milford National Bank president Kenneth Cole said. "The self-service technology will ultimately allow our customer service representatives to focus more on value-add services."
The 2,000 square-foot facility boasts three offices, two teller stations, a customer service counter and an online banking station. A concierge welcomes customers and helps familiarize them with two drive-thru Vacuum Air Tube, two RemoteTeller and two ExpressDelivery systems, as well as the branch's two Opteva ATMs and Securomatic After Hour depositories.
The Vacuum Air Tube is an ergonomic pneumatic tube system that transports customer and merchant documents via one-way or two-way closed-circuit television.
Diebold's RemoteTeller accommodates any transaction traditionally conducted in the teller line. Two or more customers can be served simultaneously at a walk-up banking unit that uses pneumatic tube technology to exchange cash, checks, coins, receipts and other materials. Communication is facilitated via a two-way video and audio connection.
ExpressDelivery is an automatic cash-dispensing terminal, and the Opteva line includes multifunctions, such as coupon-dispense, statement printing and deposit automation.
Securomatic is a through-the-wall unit that provides secure-bag or envelope deposits.
Diebold also installed surveillance equipment, video cameras, alarms and alarm monitoring.
