LAS VEGAS - The Cheq-IT XPress range of Cheq Information Technology Inc.'s image scanners are in compliance with the European Economic Community (EEC) directives, the comapny said in a news release.
The RoHS initiatives are European environmental legislation slated to take effect July 1. The directive bans the EEC marketing of new electrical and electronic equipment that contain certain levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
"We are pleased that BUIC Systems, A.G., our partner in delivering these products to the North American and other International Markets, has been a leader in complying with RoHS/WEEE requirements and has met them well in advance of compliance deadlines," said John Ashley, chief executive of Cheq Information Technology.
