MUMBAI, India - State Bank of India, the country's largest bank, and Kingfisher Airlines are expected July 1 to launch e-ticketing at State Bank ATMs. According to a news release, State Bank cardholders traveling on Kingfisher Airlines now can pay for their tickets at ATMs. Financial Software and Systems, an e-payments solutions provider in India, is supporting payments through its FSSNet Payment systems infrastructure.
FSS solutions power more than 75 percent of card-based transactions in the country, with India's SBI group accounting for more than 40 million transactions a month. Through FSSNeT, FSS offers value-added services such as mobile top-up, and bilateral and multilateral ATM transaction sharing.
To make an airline purchase, a cardholder inserts his ATM/debit card and enters his PIN as well as a 10-digit booking-reference number given to him by the airline with the ticket is ordered. Payment is then automatically deducted from his State Bank account. The ATM dispenses a transaction slip that the customer presents at the airline counter when checking in.
