NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Diebold Inc. has earned certification from the General Services Administration to deliver security-integration services that meet the requirements of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12). HSPD-12 prompts government entities to prioritize U.S. critical infrastructure and key resources to protect them from terrorist attacks.

The certification qualifies Diebold to provide systems-integration services and products that address specific Homeland Security needs of federal agencies.

According to a news release, the certification allows Diebold to deliver products and services for projects that address processing standards set forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

"The government market has been and continues to be a priority for Diebold Global Security," said Dennis M. Moriarty, senior vice president of the division. "Many agencies already trust Diebold to assist in meeting their security objectives in the government marketplace. This certification now enables us to officially leverage our capabilities to deliver solutions for HSPD-12 initiatives."

Now that federal agencies have complied with the October 2006 deadline to produce a compliant identification card, they move to the next phase of how to make that card work.

Diebold says its access-control and identity-management experts can help agencies deploy and apply the credential to both physical-access-control systems and logical-access-control systems.

Diebold also holds a GSA Schedule 70 for general-purpose commercial information-technology equipment, software and services; a GSA Schedule 71 III E for miscellaneous
furniture such as security filing cabinets, safes, access-control containers and vault doors; and a GSA Schedule 84 for total solutions for law enforcement, security, facilities management, rescue and emergency/disaster response.
