DAYTON, Ohio - NCR Corp. has released a new back-office-conversion solution that complies with NACHA-The Electronic Payments Association's new check-conversion guidelines. The new guidelines allow retailers and billers that accept checks at the point-of-sale or manned bill-payment location to convert eligible checks to ACH debits in the back-office.
NACHA's BOC guidelines apply to consumer and business checks less than $25,000 that do not contain any "on-us" fields. BOC also allows financial institutions to convert eligible checks received as image files to ACH debits.
According to a news release, NCR has integrated its BOC technology into its remote deposit-capture solution, ImageMark Commercial Passport. ImageMark is already being used to capture check data and images for electronic-deposit processing, NCR said.
"BOC is yet another positive advancement that will continue the adoption of electronic-check processing," said Dick Wheeler, vice president of marketing for NCR's Payment and Imaging Solutions Group. "Leveraging NCR's remote deposit-capture technology, financial institutions can easily enable their commercial customers to effectively 'self-serve' check depositing."
ImageMark Commercial Passport captures the check images and data and automatically applies BOC rules to determine eligibility. It then and converts the transaction to an ACH file for processing.
NCR also provides a single platform for check truncation and conversion, allowing the routing of the check data and image to the most cost-effective check-clearing method.
