Digital Transactions: eFunds Corp. has hired investment bank Goldman Sachs & Company to explore "strategic alternatives" that could result in a merger. The eFunds disclosure comes just more than a month after First Data Corp. announced plans to go private and Metavante Corp. announced plans to go public in a spin-off from its bank parent, Marshall & Ilsley Corp. EFunds is considering many options, including remaining independent, going private or merging with another company.
