EU expected to rule MasterCard interchange illegal

CNN Money: The European Commission is set to rule this week that MasterCard Worldwide's interchange-fee network is illegal. The commission is expected to conclude that MasterCard abused its dominant position in the market by setting interchange-fee levels too high. A negative ruling is expected to prompt an appeal from MasterCard. The company says it has enough evidence at its disposal to overturn the commission decision at the EU courts in Luxembourg.
