MUMBAI, India — NCR Corp. has upgraded 1,200 HDFC Bank ATMs with its jitter-enabled card readers that help prevent skimming.
According to a news release, with this upgrade, all 1,910 ATMs of HDFC Bank are now equipped with the jitter readers.
Skimming comes in different forms, but typically involves the attachment of a device to an ATM's card reader area that captures important card data stored on a card's magnetic stripe. When a card passes through the fraudulent device it can skim or copy the mag-stripe information. Jitter helps prevent fraud by disrupting those attempts to copy data with a random stop-start movement during card entry and exit.
"With around 60 percent of our customers regularly transacting on our ATMs, it is important for us to ensure that our ATMs are secure, so that our customers feel confident to use the ATM as a convenient and secure medium to route transactions," said HDFC's Rahul Bhagat.
