India's state-owned banks want to clamp down on ATM sharing

The (India) Economic Times: State-owned banks based in Maharashtra, India, with foreign branches have asked Indian regulators to discriminate between domestic and foreign banks when it comes to customer access to shared ATM networks. Public banks have raised the issue of reciprocity, as they are allowed very limited access in overseas markets — in terms of branches and ATMs. In India, the Reserve Bank of India grants licenses to set up branches and ATM installations, and customers of foreign banks can access third-party ATMs, often for free.
