VICTORIA, Australia — Symstream Technology Group Ltd. has signed a deal with Indosat, an Indonesia-based telecommunications provider, to roll out Symstream throughout Indonesia, with the objective of providing a secure and robust wireless-communications technology to the financial-services market using the company's existing GSM network.
"The integration of Symstream with Indosat's extensive GSM mobile network will change the way people conduct business in Indonesia," said Symstream vice president of Southeast Asia, Mark Telkes. "Our technology will enable banks to reduce overhead costs and administer faster ATM rollouts with higher up time."
By deploying Symstream, banks in Indonesia will now be able to deploy ATMs to the most remote sites throughout the archipelago. The solution uses voice channel, unlike traditional General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), providing better security, reliability and speed.
"Providing Symstream to the financial-services sector of Indonesia is an important and strategic step for both companies and its shareholders," said Guntur S. Siboro, Indosat's marketing director. "Symstream is an integral part of Indosat's products for corporate solutions."
