PADERBORN, Germany — Southeast Asia's CIMB Bank Berhad has selected Wincor Nixdorf International's cash-deposit technology for its ATM network.
CIMB is Malaysia's second-largest financial institutions and one of Asia's trendsetters in the migration of standard transactions to ATMs.
According to a news release, in addition to the 650 ATM systems that accept cash deposits, the bank is installing an additional 680 cash dispensers. Cash-in systems that offer bigger banknote capacities, such as Wincor Nixdorf's ProCash 4000, will be used to automate deposits. Both the cash-in systems and the monofunction ProCash 2000 dispensers will be installed at off-premises locations.
Wincor Nixdorf will provide the installation service and be responsibility for all ATM maintenance.
Rollout is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
As the majority of Asian economies remain cash-oriented, resulting in high volumes of low-denomination banknotes in circulation, fast-growing banks in the region are seeking ways to benefit from the cash trend, Wincor Nixdorf says. FIs are beginning to migrate their deposits and withdrawals to ATMs to improve customer service.
