The Jersey Journal: The only thing between two absent-minded ATM thieves and a perfect getaway was an extension cord. Unfortunately for the thieves, that was all it took to pull the rug out from under their dastardly plans. When they tried to steal an ATM from a Jersey City grocery store, they apparently forgot to roll up the extension cord that was attached to the machine. When the thieves tried to make a quick getaway, the cord got stuck in the front door of the store and the ATM fell off the back of their truck and crashed onto the pavement. The perps did not try to return for the machine. No money was missing from the ATM, police say.
