African ATM aims to reduce use of cash

(Accra, Ghana) Joy Online: Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement System has launched the E-zwich compliant ATM, which aims to reduce the use of cash while gradually migrating users in the country to electronic and automated payments systems. The E-zwich platform, which launched in May 2008, includes a POS device as a payment terminal that is available to participating financial institutions for electronic banking and payment services to the public. The addition of ATMs is expected to help the network expand electronic banking and payment services to all Ghanaians.
