NCR Corp. says it's working with the University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland to uncover potential ATMs threats. Through an initiative coined the "Ethical Hacking" program, NCR is working with members of academia to test known and potentially harmful viruses and come up with new ways to thwart ATM hacks.
According to a news release from NCR, the success of the partnership also led the university to implement an ethical hacking program that allows students to pursue bachelors and masters degrees in ethical hacking. And NCR has incorporated the program's findings on crime prevention into its own ATM research and development.
Mark Grossi, who oversees NCR Labs in Dundee, Scotland, says the relationship is a win-win for the university and NCR:

All program proposals receive approval through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership, which was designed to capitalize on the wide-ranging knowledge, technology and skills found within the United Kingdom. Each program is funded in part by the Technology Strategy Board and 17 other funding organizations.
