Edinburgh, Scotland-based KAL has joined the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. As a participating organization, KAL will assist the council with evolving the PCI Data Security Standard, as well as other payment-card data-protection standards.
PCI DSS, endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc., sets certain security controls on merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit debit and credit data.
Aravinda Korala, KAL's chief executive, says KAL's participation on the council will give KAL access to an expanded base of security knowledge:

Security of the ATM network and the cardholder data is absolutely vital in order to preserve the trust we all have in those networks. We believe that the PCI DSS plays a critical role in this and we are very excited to participate in the PCI Security Standards Council.
