England-based ATM ISO Hanco says it has installed its 340th free-to-use ATM in the United Kingdom, marking a milestone for the company. Hanco in October 2008 spearheaded an initiative to increase its free-to-use ATMs in the United Kingdom. To date, Hanco has increased its number of free-to-use ATMs to 1,500 machines.
According to a news release issued by Hanco, the free-to-use proposition extends to independent and franchised businesses, in addition to corporate partnerships. The 340th machine was installed at the 3,000-square-foot Nisa Extra convenience store in West Bromwich — part of a group chain of c-stores that have signed with Hanco's free-to-use ATM program. Jenny Campbell, head of Hanco, says Hanco plans to continue building its network of free-to-use ATMs:
Hanco has seen a positive U.K. reception in the retail and services market for our new free-to-use proposition, which has really taken off successfully this year. Growth has been particularly pronounced in retail outlets, such as symbol group operators in convenience stores and the education sector through the national network of student unions. Indications are that the growing popularity for free-to-use cash machines (is) set to continue, especially with our merchants receiving the latest RBS or NatWest bank-branded ATMs to secure consumer confidence in using convenient standalone cash machines which are free to use, reliable and secure. We believe our excellent products, customer service levels, personal account management and dedication will ensure our continued success.
Hanco, which operates a network of more than 7,000 ATMs, is a market leader in merchant-filled ATMs in the U.K.
