"We see this as a way to offer something different," Swain said during the Oct. 15 grand opening of the ATM parts and repair-services company.
What makes ATMGurus "different," Swain says, is that it aims to sell parts and supply technician training on all types of retail ATMs, even those that are not manufactured by parent company Triton Systems of Delaware Inc. Swain says ATMGurus will focus on the three big suppliers in the retail space — Triton, Tranax Technologies Inc. and Nautilus Hyosung — with plans to expand the service reach to other ATM makes and models sometime in the future.
ATMGurus, which opened in July, has employed about 50 people for the 22,500-square-foot warehouse and repair facility located in Bartlett, Tenn., just outside Memphis.
"We see ourselves working with other ATM manufacturers, even on a global level," said Triton's general manager, Daryl Cornell. "We see this as being a place where they can have their technicians trained, or where we can provide support for them, especially if they do not have a strong U.S. servicing presence."
Component repair is a big part of the business, and ATMGurus has dedicated 15,000 square feet to focus on repair. Another 7,500 square feet has been dedicated for the warehousing of parts — where between 80 and 125 boxes are sent out daily to ATM companies in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom, Swain says.
