The Warsaw (Poland) Business Journal reports that money transfers at ATMs are hitting the streets in the United Kingdom for wires to recipients in Poland.
The service, offered by independent ATM operator Bankomat24/Euronet with the U.K.'s RIA Financial Services (a part of Euronet Worldwide), allows Poles working in the U.K. to send money home to their families. Users receive international money transfers at an ATM, and no card is required.
The service, the first of its kind in Europe, allows money to be sent from RIA agencies in the U.K. and withdrawn, in złoty, from any Euronet cash machine in Poland, using a unique transfer number and PIN. By the end of the year, this service also will work for remittances from Northern Ireland, Italy and Germany, Warsaw Business Journal reports.
"World Bank data shows that Poland is fifth in the world in terms of remittances by value, while we have noticed the biggest demand for money transfers to Poland from the U.K.," said Rafał Szczechura, RIA's country manager for Euronet in Poland.
