The Sheet reports that Suncorp Metway and Bendigo and Adelaide Bank plan to link their ATM fleets in a shared network. The two banks have approximately 1,600 ATMs in total. The networks are expected to be merged by March 2010.
 
Direct charging rules, which took effect in Australia in March 2009, have encouraged banks to merge their ATM networks.
