AllAfrica.com reports that SIMTEL is expected to soon produce EMV-compliant Visa ATM/debit cards in Rwanda. SIMTEL's CEO, Sigrid Bruch, says the company is currently "in talks with banks" in the country.
 
SIMTEL is a consortium owned by the private sector and the government. The company is operating Rwanda's national payment system, which helps inter-bank ATM services and connectivity, allowing ATM- and debit-cardholders to withdraw money and access services at any ATM owned by any bank.
