Colorado bank lobby kills own bill after debit surcharge ban amendment

According to NACSonline.com, legislation pending in the Colorado senate recently was killed after it was amended to include debit transactions via ATMs in a proposed ban on credit card surcharges.

The Colorado banking lobby, which had supported the bill initially, worked to have the bill tabled after the amendment was added, the story says. Retailers had opposed the initial bill, and the Colorado Wyoming Petroleum Marketers Association worked to support the amendment, as did lobbyists for Circle K.
