Itautec S.A., a Sao Paulo, Brazil, manufacturer, will introduce its Adattis ATM line to U.S. banks and credit unions, Mario Weltman Dvorkin, general manager of Itautec America Inc., today tells ATMmarketplace.com.
Itautec America, a Doral, Fla., subsidiary of Itautec S.A, will roll out in the fourth quarter or early next year a full line of Adattis ATMs, said Dvorkin, adding he did not want to say too much because the company is in the early stages of preparing for deployment.
"Right now, we are laying the groundwork, showing financial institutions who we are," Dvorkin said. "We also are developing a distribution channel and a service channel."
Itautec displayed the Adattis line last March at the CeBit conference in Hanover, Germany. The Adattis ATMs include bulk check and cash acceptors, image capturing and touchscreens. The manufacturer also emphasizes the machines' security. Adattis ATMs are equipped with cameras and rearview mirrors.
Itautec will market the machines through a joint venture with value-added resellers called the I-Team, which is the Itautec Technology Exchange Alliance Membership. Itautec will recruit value-added resellers to sell Adattis to financial institutions.
Itautec will have to find a way to get into a very tough market.
ATM manufacturers Diebold Inc. and NCR Corp. are the vendors of choice for U.S.-based financial institutions, according to a survey of banks by Northcoast Research in Cleveland. Of the banks that participated in Northcoast's survey, Diebold, which is based in North Canton, Ohio, had a 46 percent share and NCR, which is based in Duluth, Ga., had a 43 percent share. The balance of the American market is controlled by other manufacturers, including Wincor Nixdorf Inc., which is gaining "slightly more market share," Northcoast said in its, "Northcoast Research 2010 ATM Report."
Itautec America has marketed for a number of years ATMs in North America, displaying its machines at trade shows, including BAI Retail Delivery. In 2008, the company shipped 10 machines here and 6,000 worldwide. Itautec S.A. operates in 11 countries worldwide. Dvorkin said the company sold ATMs in the United States to casinos and other "niche markets."
Itautec announced plans to sell to financial institutions here after World Finance, a London-based financial magazine, named Itautec 2010's best finance technology company for Latin America.
"This award validates that Itautec's well-designed global strategy meets demands of different markets and earns our clients' trust," Dvorkin said.
